Self Defence
We are currently running a 5 week self defence course for Year 7-10 students.
Syllabus/content:
Understand the real danger of attacks.
Learn from real stories / how & why ladies get into ‘bad’ situations.
INNER ALARM
Recognise and use this to keep away from danger
AWARENESS
See a potentially threatening situation before it’s too late.
AVOIDANCE
Preventative measures / target hardening – make it difficult for someone to attack you eg when walking in the street/car park, on the tube/bus, in a cab/lift, home alone, carrying valuables
BODY LANGUAGE & VOICE CONTROL
Give the appearance that you are not vulnerable, use your voice effectively.
EFFECTIVE STRIKES & DEFENCES
Learn Krav Maga strikes and basic defences that are easy to learn and practical for the street against common attacks:
- Grabs/holds
- Chokes
- Strikes
- Knife threats/attacks
- Attacks on the ground
Girls are thoroughly enjoying the course which is being delivered from Melissa from DSD Academy.
