Shmittah

Can you survive a year with no income?

The farmer is worried.

How will he sustain his lease?

If he defaults on his loans, will the land get passed to non-observant hands?

Will he have enough to buy groceries?

Feed his family?

More than ever, the strength of these amazing farmers is in sharp focus. Not only is the world teetering from the pandemic, it's a leap year.

For some crops, it's yet another season gone. For farmers, that means yet another loss

Despite having every reason not to, the farmer enters the unknown, but he needs our help to make it through.

Keren Hashviis came to LSGS to speak about shmitah, a mitzvah given to all of us, whether or not we own land in Eretz Yisroel.

Girls were able to meet with a Chabad farmer from Israel, a champion. He spoke of them about the challenge, the struggle, and also the abundant bracha shmittah has. The presentation was interesting and eye opening.
